watchlistentell

I have this wonderful friend, who has such great taste in music it astounds me.
I think there's one of these friends in every group and I'm so glad that mine is
the person she is. But enough about that, recently she's been listening to this
music channel on Youtube called watchlistentell, which quite simply is amazing.
Somehow the creator of the channel has convinced numerous really talented
bands to play an acoustic song live in a slightly unusual place. If you
aren't already a subscriber I really suggest you become one, because you
will get access to live acoustic sessions of some truly wonderful bands.

Closet sifting

There seems to be something so nosy about sifting through people's
closets and discovering all their faux pas and skeletons.
However, when The Coveteur does it, it's anything but.
Aside from finding out the insides to peoples wardrobes I do
have another guilty secret, and that is that I was/am a big fan of The Hills.
I know what you're thinking, but I doubt there isn't a band or TV show
you're secretly ashamed of?
Nonetheless, even if you don't like the show, it's hard to deny Lauren
Conrad has amazing style. So here's a sneak peak into her closet.

brass & gold

Lately my style in jewellery has changed and I've been getting really
 into minimalist jewellery.
It's not the best fad of mine because some days I just find myself craving
a large feature necklace and I have none!
Nonetheless I have satisfied my minimalist fad with the lovely brand paper and chain.
The prices are very affordable, I don't know about you but that's a huge
plus for me, and the designs are ones that I haven't seen adorned on
every second passer by. There's not much else to it I guess, but maybe
popping onto the website and having a look?

Attention to detail

When decorating a room one of my favourite things to do is print off a favourite piece of art from an artist and put it in a pretty little frame on the wall. So, when I found Teagan White's work, I soon realised that I didn't have enough rooms or enough walls to display everything that I wanted.

Teagan is this amazingly talented artist who does typography, children's and just general illustrations. Her works are so detailed that only seeing them in person would do them justice.

I originally found her artwork on an amazing website called Society 6, where you can buy artworks as prints, iPhone covers, T-shirts and a whole bounty of other things.

It's no wonder that Teagan comes up with the creative nature inspired sort of artworks that she does considering where she lives. I found this cute little description and find is so wonderful I had to share it.

"Teagan lives with her boyfriend Vernon in the woods across the street
from train tracks and a fox den, and spends her tiny amounts of free
time taking photos, exploring forests, rivers, lakes, fields, and swamps,
picking wildflowers, and collecting animal bones."

How purely wonderful is that?

You're a carnivore

[source]

I must admit I have a little crush on P.H Fitzgerald and everything that he does.
So when I saw that he did a photo shoot with the lovely jewellery designer, Vera Balyura,
behind Verameat I was instantly overwhelmed. By just looking at the end
result you can tell that both Vera and Parker are incredibly talented people.
Hell, I certainly wouldn't complain if I were friends with them!

Be happy

Lately, I've been feeling a bit down in the dumps, this is also why I
haven't been blogging quite as much. I've just been trying  to
distract myself with life. That was all until I found this quote, and
it just made me smile and think how silly I was being. So what
that I'm sick and didn't get the Editorial Committee job I wanted?
That's life.
So I want you all to think of what makes you happy when you
simply feel, well, just really shitty.

So here's mine. I'm happy when I...

sit down and read a good book
look at photographs from times past
spend times with good people
travel to different corners of the globe
have a good meal
listen to a mind-numbingly good tune
and dance until my legs give out

Sweet embrace

The lovely Sarah Blasko has had a new album under the works in
Sweden and good news is, it's due out in October!
Here's a taster of what's yet to come.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

After reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which mind you was a mere week because it was that amazing, I can't help but be in awe of Stephen Chbosky's talent.

The whole book is written in sort of a diary like fashion, but it's actually letters that Charlie is sending to an unknown person. In these letters, he pours out his heart as well as his understanding, and misunderstanding, of the world.

Charlie is a unique character as he is constantly observing what is happening around him, as the story develops Charlie learns to get involved a little bit more in what life has to offer.

I really can't recommend this book enough, without doubt on every page there would be a quote that would have me thinking just how right it was. I don't know if Chbosky heard these quotes somewhere or they simply formed out of his (brilliant) mind, but they are the kind people get tattooed on their bodies.

The whole story puts life into perspective and really shines a light on the dynamics of being a teenager.

The book has recently been made into a movie, with Emma Watson as Charlie's love interest. I'm not sure if the movie could truly do justice to the imagery that was created in the book, but lets hope it does!

Here is a link to the official soundtrack, which is great to just listen to, and reflect.

This is also worth listening to. It's Charlie's favourite song and without question, the song for the whole book. It's simply perfect.

Lovely lady

As you may have noticed I have recently joined the Lana Del Rey bandwagon, and it's hard to deny that she is a stunner.

She recently did a shoot for Vogue Australia that was shot by Nicole Bentley and this is the result, in one simple editorial she has brought a whole new element to Vogue!

I must admit I didn't discover this shoot on my own and I have the lovely blog The Electric to thank.
